Outstanding Visits and Public Talks in North America
Sep 21, 2024
The journey of Kadam Dharma in France, from its humble beginnings in a small flat in Paris’ Latin Quarter in 1995, to its current widespread presence, is an inspiring story of faith and determination.
Following the Spring Festival, the Kadampa Meditation Centers in Berlin and Paris held compelling public talks that drew substantial crowds both in-person and online.
Post-festival retreats are organised by Kadampa centers around the world after each of the three International Festivals. See below reviews of retreats that followed the 2023 Spring Festival.
Gen Rigden, the resident teacher of KMC Deuachen in Sintra, is taking us on a temple tour of the hidden jewel of Portugal – the Fourth Temple for World Peace.
This year at the Canadian National Festival 2023 attendees will be granted a Blessing Empowerment of Buddha Avalokiteshvara and will receive teachings on compassion with Gen Samten Kelsang.
Bodhisattva KMC in Brighton recently hosted two of its popular free beach meditation sessions, each attended by over 200 to 250 people. The first was led by the Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Jigme, who offered participants the opportunity to engage in a short meditation focused on the clarity of mind. The second event was given by visiting teacher Gen Kelsang Demo, who is the resident teacher for KMC DC, and was centered around a meditation on wishing love.
KMC Canada was involved in two events for public benefit this past weekend! During Doors Open Toronto 2023, an event organized by the City of Toronto, 450 people visited our temple. They enjoyed a 10 min guided meditation and the Liberating Prayer. They were also introduced to the different Buddhas and the sound of their mantras, to the history of the building, the significance of the Buddhist symbols, and shown the two cabinets of Buddha’s teachings and their commentaries, the Kangyur and the Tengyur.
On June 4, Buddha’s turning of the Wheel of Dharma day, at Kadampa centres around the world, we offer Venerable Geshe-la our faith with hearts filled with rejoicing and gratitude. We do this by using the special prayer, “Request to the Holy Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso from His Faithful Disciples,” and by collecting our Guru’s name mantra in a one-day retreat.
