A Sea of Saffron & Smiles - Ordination Day
The International community of ordained sangha filled the temple with a sea of saffron and smiles, as they gathered together for the Summer Festival ordination ceremony of 2023.
Always a special occasion of rejoicing, today 21 new ordained sangha received their vows from Gen-la Dekyong, the General Spiritual Director of NKT-IKBU, formalising their intention to follow in the footsteps of Buddha and their own Spiritual Guide.
The new ordainees came from many different countries around the world, some of them on a pilgrimage for the very first time to Manjushri Centre to receive their precious ordination vows.
Gen-la Dekyong shared powerful teachings from our founder, Venerable Geshe-la, in which he explained the uncommon qualities of ordination in the New Kadampa Tradition. Gen-la explained how this special way of practising is based on Venerable Geshe-la's own experience. If we follow this way of practising, it will lead us to become pure examples who show the great value of Kadam Dharma in our modern world.
With more than three hundred senior sangha attending as witnesses for the new ordainees and simultaneously renewing their intentions and vows, everyone took away new strength, determination and inspiration for their ordained way of life.
We deeply rejoice in the kindness of all these ordained Sangha, old and new, in dedicating themselves in this way.
