Follow daily updates from the festival
At the end of the first week of Festival is the rest day. Those staying for the full two weeks got a glorious sunny day to go out and enjoy the local area, including the nearby Hoad monument with views of the Lakeland hills. One local resident commented how nice it was to see all the town full of people in ordained robes and all the happy faces of so many visitors.
Some people stayed on site, helping out in different areas, welcoming the new arrivals, and getting everything ready for the second week. This included setting up an exquisite Heruka offering table in the temple, as well as putting the finishing touches to the main shrine cabinet, which now includes two new beautiful large statues of Heruka and Vajrayogini. A very auspicious development to take place right before the empowerments, and testament to the skill and dedication of the Kadampa Art Studio at Manjushri KMC.
Then more buses arrive from the airport filled with Kadampas from around the world, so happy to journey to our Mother Centre for the empowerments and teachings. Together with those travelling by train and car, people pour in, tents are pitched, hugs abound and the scene is set for another week full of wonder and meaning.
