Throughout the Kadampa world learning the essential lineage of Buddhist sacred art and ritual skills continues, with new generations of practitioners taking their first steps in learning to paint Buddha images or craft traditional Buddhist tormas.
As January ended, students of KMC Deuachen were rejoicing in the completion of their close retreat of Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka. Meanwhile over 10,000km away, students of KMC Chile were very happy to be starting their close retreat!
The International Kadampa Retreat Center Grand Canyon is part way through its 2024 Mountain Retreat. Over 80 retreaters participated in the first three weeks led by KMC-NYC Resident Teacher Kadam Morten Clausen.
The precious practice of Buddha Amitayus – Buddha of long life, merit, and wisdom is enjoyed at Kadampa Centers at the beginning of each year. KMC Tharpaland, KMC Colombia, KMC France, KMC Cuernavaca, KBC Drolma, and KBC Queretaro have already engaged in this wonderful retreat, requesting blessings for the upcoming year.
On Saturday, January 27, 2024, we celebrate with great joy and gratitude that 15 years ago, thanks to the kindness of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, Compassion Kadampa Buddhist Center opened its doors in the city of Mérida. Later, in April 2023 we became Kadampa Meditation Center Merida.
Manjushri KMC, KMC Spain, KMC Mexico, IKRC Menorca , and Compassion KBC were among the centers concluding their January counting retreats with Vajradaka burning offerings. The Vajradaka Burning Offering is a potent method for purifying negative actions, that can done for ourself and on behalf of others, including the deceased.
During the first two weeks of January, students of KMC Cuernavaca were fortunate enough to receive instructions from our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Nampur, on how to practice the third great preliminary guide of mandala offerings.

January 25 is a special day in the Kadampa calendar – it is Heruka Day. Heruka is Buddha’s mind of compassion manifested as form. On this day, Kadampa Centers worldwide celebrate by organizing community events and prayers.
