Day 3 of the Festival dawns and by now everyone is beginning to settle into Festival life. Enjoying a change of pace, letting go of ordinary life, falling in to a delightful rhythm of meditation, attending teachings, volunteering, meal times and evening puja.
The Empowerment day is always a very special day at the Festival. There is gentle morning of meditation to deeply prepare our minds guided by Gen Kelsang Ananda. The finishing touches are put in place for the empowerment shrine and even more abundant offerings appear. Everyone files in to the temple, our General Spiritual Director, Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong enters and there is a special quiet and unity as the empowerment begins.
The first day of the NKT Summer Festival 2024 is a beautiful day, showing the Lake District at its very best, with all the peaks of the mountains visible and the sea tranquil and beautiful in Morecambe Bay.
On Sunday, Resident Teachers participating in the International Teacher Training Program took a break from their studies to contribute to the Summer Festival Preparations.
This year, from 26th July to 10th August 2024, Manjushri KMC is hosting the annual International Summer Festival. In preparation for this wonderful event hundreds of both local and international volunteers, as well as kind professional workers, are joyfully working together to make everything ready for Festival attendees.
Over the weekend, more than 200 people from different parts of Spain gathered at KMC Barcelona for the Northern Dharma Celebration with the National Espiritual Director of Spain and Portugal, Gen Kelsang Choga.
In October 2013, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche gave his last public teachings in Portugal. During these teachings, Geshe-la granted the empowerment of Great Mother Prajnaparamita and taught the Essence of Wisdom Sutra (Heart Sutra), which contains the heart essence of Buddha’s perfection of wisdom teachings.

Part of Venerable Geshe-la’s vision for the Summer Festival has always been that we end with the play The Life of Buddha. He requested that it always be shown to inspire modern day practitioners to follow in Buddha’s footsteps.
