The IKRC Grand Canyon began 2025 with a 24-hour Green Tara retreat led by Gen Kelsang Lhadron, Resident Teacher at KMC San Diego.

Kadam Morten then guided the first four weeks of the IKRC Grand Canyon’s 2025 Mountain Retreat. Nearly 80 people participated in Week 1 which featured meditations on the Heart Sutra using The Great Mother practice. Weeks 2 and 3 focused on the generation stage practices of divine pride and clear appearance of being Buddha Vajrayogini, while Week 4 concentrated on the subtle meditations of Vajrayogini completion stage practice with time and space to meditate on the central channel, indestructible drop and indestructible wind and mind. Kadampas from France, Switzerland, Mexico, Canada, China and throughout the United States traveled to participate in this year’s retreat.

On January 27, the IKRC Grand Canyon welcomed its new Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Demo who will guide Weeks 5 and 6 of the Mountain Retreat (Jan 31 - Feb 13), teach the IKRC’s Sunday GP class in February “Living with Purpose: The Buddhist Perspective on Life and Death.”

The IKRC Grand Canyon also has seven retreaters on-site engaged in a Vajrayogini Close Retreat this month which will culminate in a Fire Puja on Sunday, Feb 16, and Vajrayogini Self-Initiation practice on Feb 17.
