The words of the refuge prayer
'I' means renunciation and 'all sentient beings' means compassion. These are our motivation for meditating on emptiness.
What is our Main Problem
Identifying the source of happiness and suffering
Irriversible faith and trust in the three Jewels
We must develop irreversible faith and trust in the three Jewels. The refuge prayer is our mind determining to apply effort to rely upon the three Jewels. We don't want to be like a parrot just making sound. Actual protection is Dharma in our heart.
Why Breathing Meditation is Not Enough
Becoming our own engineer of our mind
Where does our suffering come from
We are living in an exaggeration
Opposing Jealousy with Rejoicing
Choosing a path of happiness instead of suffering
Solving Anger With Wisdom
Understanding how everything arises from causes and conditions and lack existence from their own side
What do we rely upon if we wish to permanently cease samsaric rebirth?
If we develop the wish to abandon samsara, we will look for a method to do this. Only Buddha teaches the method to permanently cease samsaric rebirth. To abandon samsara we must receive blessings, receive help from Sangha, and practice the Dharma of the three higher trainings. The three Jewels, Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, are therefore the real wishfulfilling jewels.
Emptying the Rubbish Bin of Self-Cherishing
Developing a strong resolution to abandon Self-cherishing
Move our mind to think about others
From contemplating our own real situation we can develop authentic compassion by contemplating their real situation.
