"Kadampa centers offer everyone the opportunity to become a source of peace and happiness for others and to give meaning to their lives. These 25 years are just the beginning, a foundation for creating a better world."
Gen Kelsang Chögyan, Resident teacher of KMC Montreal.
Through the inspiration and kindness of the fully accomplished meditation Master and internationally renowned Teacher of Buddhism, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, KMC Montreal (CMK Montreal) was established in 1996.
Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche emphasises the importance of meditation and applying it in our daily lives, the need to be truly happy, and how to cultivate a good heart to help others – and he demonstrates these qualities perfectly in his own life. He is a humble Buddhist monk dedicated to helping people throughout the world find true happiness in their hearts.
He has established over 1,300 centres worldwide, trained hundreds of qualified Teachers and created a project to build Buddhist Temples in every major city in the world.
2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the center. Enjoy this inspiring video of Gen-la Khyenrab...
Making the complete path of Buddha's compassion and ancient wisdom available in the heart of a big city, in the hustle and bustle of the modern world, is a priceless gift. Encountering these methods has already transformed the lives of thousands of people in Quebec and around the world in such a few years! Anyone can learn to integrate Buddha's teachings into their daily lives without having to change their lifestyle.
Gen Kelsang Chögyan is the Resident Teacher of CMK Montreal. She has been studying and practising Kadampa Buddhism for over 20 years. She constantly encourages us through her sincere example, her deep faith and her great ability to transform all situations into opportunities to progress along path. Her joy, energy and enthusiasm inspire us to put Buddha’s teachings into practice and experience their many benefits in our daily life.
"The Montreal Center is the anchor of the Kadampa tradition in Quebec. It's like our benchmark. Our Center to turn to for advice, to get closer to Geshe-la's vision. KMC Montreal is for me a sign of solidity, of perpetuity in this constantly changing world.
All those who have been involved in CMK Montreal for 25 years and still are today have been extremely kind! They have participated in making Dharma flourish not only in Montreal but in the whole province and in giving birth to 7 other Centres!" - Annabelle
"My encounter with Kadampa Buddhism has profoundly changed my life and going to CMK Montreal has always been a source of inspiration as much for the teachings given there as for the exchanges with the sangha of Montreal and elsewhere who gather there." - Geneviève
"All the Kadampa centers in Quebec were born from the CMK Montreal. For 25 years, so many people, just like me, have encountered methods for a more peaceful life there. Thank you to Geshe-la and everyone who contributed to all of this. With the wish that these centers for world peace continue to exist beyond our lives!"
- Guylaine
"CMK Montreal, our mother centre in Quebec, is very precious - a place of peace that heals the hearts of those who attend." - Gen Kelsang Lakpa
"CMK Montreal is for me my home where a large spiritual family gathers, where we can participate in activities that have so much meaning to teach us to be truly happy and to bring peace around us. Whether in person or virtually, it is always a celebration for me to share these precious moments with my spiritual friends." - Monique
"CMK Montreal is like a family home where we gather to catch up on news, regain strength, get inspired and share a spiritual banquet of teachings, retreats and rejoicing together. A family that is very friendly and always ready to open its door. During all these years, I have seen people come from everywhere to attend important events, to take refuge or to offer their help. CMK Montreal is also a good parent who is taking care of all the Dharma centers in Quebec, who guides us, advises us and gives us tools so that the Dharma can flourish in our regions. " - Mélodie
