End-of-the-year celebrations in Mexico, UK and Canada
Dec 24, 2024
End-of-the-year celebrations take us to Kadampa centers in Mexico, the UK, and Canada. Communities gathered to share teachings, meditation, and festive joy. In Mexico, KMC Mexico and KMC Merida hosted special courses with their Resident Teachers. In Sheffield, attendees enjoyed a meditation on love, while Aberdeen focused on gratitude and contentment. Ottawa’s Christmas gathering brought warmth, connection, and festive cheer to all who attended.
Last Saturday, over 100 people gathered to hear valuable Buddhist advice from Gen Kelsang Sangden, Resident Teacher of KMC Mexico. Together, we reflected on how cultivating kindness, patience, and humility in our daily lives benefits both ourselves and others.
Afterwards, we enjoyed delicious food, great conversations and positive energy with friends and family. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this day successful. You are what makes our community so special!
As the year comes to a close, we celebrated with a deeply transformative mind-training experience. Our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Chime, gave teachings and guided meditations from Universal Compassion, written by our kind Founder, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.
With clarity and warmth, Gen Chime guided us through reflections on the practice of equalizing self and others—cherishing others as much as ourselves. This practice generates affectionate love and valuing others, filling our minds with peace and transforming our actions into positive ones. It also lays the foundation for bodhichitta, the altruistic mind of enlightenment, allowing us to become Bodhisattvas—true friends of the world—and filling our lives with profound meaning.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our festive gathering on Sunday afternoon! The event began with a heartwarming teaching and meditation from Gen Tubchen, focusing on gratitude, contentment, and giving love. This was followed by a delicious four-course meal lovingly prepared by our incredible volunteers. We ended the day with a lively fundraising raffle, bringing smiles all around.
A heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this event so special. It was a wonderful way to celebrate together as a community!
On Saturday, December 14th, KMC Sheffield hosted its Annual Festive Meditation & Meal, bringing together working visitors, residents and community members for an evening of connection and joy.
The event began with a warm welcome and festive punch, followed by a guided meditation on love with Resident Teacher, Gen Lekchog - a perfect start to the evening. Guests enjoyed beautifully decorated tables and a delicious meal prepared by Inchug and her team, topped off with a fun Christmas quiz hosted by Dragden. The evening concluded with hot drinks, chocolate and plenty of smiles.
One attendee shared:
"What a wonderful event! The place was buzzing. The punch on arrival was a lovely welcome for everyone. The table decorations were amazing, the food was really delicious, and the quiz added so much fun. I was too busy enjoying the food and company to take more photos!"
A huge thank you to our volunteers for their hard work in preparing and serving the meal, and to all our guests who helped with the cleanup. It was a truly special evening of love, laughter, and Sangha spirit!
We had an amazing Christmas get-together last night at KMC Ottawa. The time flew by. Everybody really enjoyed being there and felt part of a big Sangha family. Such a wonderful event! Thanks for organizing it so well, Khandro (our wonderful Admin Director)!
