Asian Festival and Welsh Dharma Celebration 2024

22 December 2024
A few days before the end of the year the Asian Sangha gathered in Singapore for the Asian Festival 2024, and KMC Wales hosted the Welsh Dharma Celebration 2024.
This year's Asian Festival was truly special, filled with blessings, Dharma teachings, and the warmth of our diverse Asian community. We were incredibly fortunate to receive the blessing empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni, as well as commentary to the Liberating Prayer.
The Festival drew participants from all corners of Asia, with attendees from Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Singapore coming together to celebrate and learn.
A highlight of the Festival was the inaugural launch of the Chinese translation of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche's profound text, Joyful Path of Good Fortune. Making this precious text accessible to a wider audience is a momentous step in spreading Buddha's teachings.
The Festival program offered a wealth of opportunities to deepen our understanding and practice of Dharma. Each day began with a meditation session guided by Gen Lamchung, Resident Teacher of the Penang center in Malaysia. The teachings were given by Gen Rabten, the National Spiritual Director of Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, and the Resident Teacher of KMC Australia and KMC Melbourne.
After the Festival, Gen Tonglam led a post-Festival retreat at Kadampa Meditation Centre Singapore, allowing participants to further integrate the teachings into their hearts and minds.
Adding to the richness of the Festival, Gen Rabten also gave a public talk in the lead-up to the event, exploring the timely and essential topic of Gratitude: Creating a Better World.
It was a truly meaningful event for everyone involved, fostering a strong sense of community and shared purpose.
We extend our deepest gratitude to all who participated and contributed to making Asian Festival 2024 such a resounding success!
What a way to finish the year! On the weekend of 13-15 December over 70 people came together - in person and online - for the Welsh Dharma Celebration. There was even a ‘North Wales Hub’ hosted by Khalpa Bhadra KBC in Llandudno.
Kadam Bridget Heyes granted the empowerment of Buddha Vajrapani and gave teachings on how to develop spiritual power - both in our formal practice and in our daily life. Everyone felt very blessed, encouraged and inspired by her profound and practical teachings.
Kadam Paul Jenkins, Resident Teacher at KMC Wales, taught the introduction and Gen Kelsang Lamchen, Resident Teacher at KMC Bristol guided the morning meditation sessions.
Thank you to our kind Teachers and heartfelt gratitude to Venerable Geshe-la for this precious opportunity to gather as a Welsh Sangha with more people joining each year.
