French and Nordic Dharma Celebrations 2024
Dec 10, 2024
2019 was a powerful year for modern Kadampa Buddhism throughout the world as the extraordinary, compassionate vision of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche unfolded further and we grew to understand more deeply the immense love and concern he has for the people of this world.
Here, we revisit some of the posts in Kadampa News from the first half of the year - a small selection that illustrates this beautiful vision unfolding.
Come back soon for the review of the second half of the year.
Among the many activities in February, traditionally many centers organise a retreat on Buddha Amitayus to accumulate blessings for long life, wisdom and merit. In particular, these retreats are dedicated to the long life of the Holy Spiritual Guide, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.
Through the great kindness of Venerable Geshe-la, Kadam Dharma is flourishing throughout Central and South America, and 2019 witnessed many precious events in these centers. Here we feature just one event to illustrate this wonderful development - the Argentina Dharma Celebration with the National Spiritual Director Gen Kelsang Rinchung.
Every year there are National Festivals around the world taught by the Gen-las. Here we revisit the 19th Spanish Festival taught by Gen-la Dekyong, Spiritual Director of NKT-IKBU, in the delightful setting of KMC Spain.
Over 400 people attended the event at which Gen-la gave the blessing of Venerable Geshe-la's book Océano de néctar, which had just been translated into Spanish and released at the Festival.
May is the month for the International Spring Festival, which is held each year at Manjushri KMC. This year it was taught by Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab, retired General Spiritual Director and presently National Spiritual Director for Canada.
Visit the post for Day 1 of the Festival and follow the 'Peace & Purity' link at the bottom right of the page for the remaining Festival Diaries.
Every year in June-July, the Intensive Teacher Training Program is held at the mother center, Manjushri KMC, to give existing Teachers an opportunity for intensive in-service training, and to give aspiring Teachers an opportunity to train as Resident Teachers. This year 200 Teachers gathered at the feet of Gen-la Khyenrab for a magical three weeks of training.
