Bonus Bulletin – 7 December
Dec 7, 2024
We continue our review of 2019 with selections from the news posts for the second part of the year.
Through this and the previous post we gain insight into the beautiful spiritual cycle that is the Kadampa year, and appreciate deeply what an inconceivable gift Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche has given this world.
As this year draws to a close and we enter into the next cycle, we offer our deep gratitude to Venerable Geshe-la and pray that everything will be auspicious for you to remain with us for a very long time and for all your wishes for the people of this world to be fulfilled.
Each year in July, Manjushr KMC transforms into a vast International Dharma Village, when thousands of people from all over the world gather for the International Kadampa Summer Festival.
This year the first week of the Festival was taught by Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong, the Spiritual Director of NKT-IKBU, and the second by Gen-la Kelsang Jampa, the Deputy Spiritual Director.
Visit the post for Day 1 of the Festival and follow the 'The sun of Je Tsongkhapa's Blessings' link at the bottom right of the page for the remaining Festival Diary pages.
There is a special sequence at the International Festivals in which the Teacher first grants an empowerment and then gives a commentary to the practice. Finally the students engage in retreat on the practice. Each Festival includes a brief retreat but there are also many opportunities to do longer post-Festival retreats organised by Kadampa centers around the world.
These increasingly popular retreats are guided by Senior Kadampa Teachers. Here we feature just one of the many post Summer Festival retreats this year held at IRC Switzerland and led by Gen-la Kunsang.
In many ways, the highlight of the year was the Fall Festival held at IKRC Grand Canyon in Arizona. Here thousands of fortunate people witnessed the opening of the 5th Kadampa Temple for World Peace and received the precious blessing transmission of Venerable Geshe-la's book The Mirror of Dharma with Additions from Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong and Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab.
Visit the post for Day 1 of the Festival and follow the 'Entering the Pure Land' link at the bottom right of the page for the remaining Festival Diary pages.
You can also watch videos about the construction of the Temple in the previous months.
And videos of the production of the statues and artwork for the Temple at the Kadampa Art Studio at Manjushri KMC.
Every month, we feature one of Venerable Geshe-la's books in Kadampa News. In addition, in October we posted a special video about Tharpa International that was made at the Fall Festival. A wonderful insight into how the books arise and some of the people who work hard to make Venerable Geshe-la's works available throughout the world.
The first Saturday in November is International Temples Day, a special day on which we celebrate the International Temples Project (ITP) and remember the inconceivable kindness of its founder, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. This year we published an updated video about the extraordinary work of the ITP in fulfilling Venerable Geshe-la's wishes.
