During the first week of the Festival we enjoyed an extraordinary empowerment and sublime teachings from Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong, the General Spiritual Director of NKT-IKBU, on Je Tsongkhapa and the pure lineage of modern Kadampa Buddhism we have inherited from him through the extraordinary kindness of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

Now as the second week begins, we are introduced to his Wisdom Dharma Protector, Dorje Shugden.

What a day it was!

After two blissful meditations in the morning guided by Gen Kelsang Dragpa, National Spiritual Director for the Nordic Region, we were perfectly prepared to receive the empowerment in the afternoon from Gen-la Kelsang Jampa the Deputy Spiritual Director of NKT-IKBU.

In his introduction, Gen-la explained who Dorje Shugden is and what his principal functions are. We understood he is an enlightened being, the same nature as Je Tsongkhapa himself, and that Je Tsongkhapa has manifested this precious Dharma Protector to protect the lineage of Kadam Dharma and prolong its presence in our world.

Then the empowerment itself, which was at once powerful and blissful! We felt the real nature of this extraordinary Protector - kind, compassionate and the nature of indestructible wisdom. The breathtaking tsog offering during the ceremony was beyond description, reflecting the deep devotion and faith in the hearts of all present.

And then we were back in the Temple in the evening with Gen-la Kunsang to enjoy a brief explanation of Request to the Holy Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche from his Faithful Disciples, followed by blissful recitations and contemplations.

A perfect end to a perfect day!
