With its wonderful climate and beautiful scenery Australia offers many peaceful outdoor locations for practicing meditation. And from time to time the Australian Kadampa centers take full advantage of it.
Here we feature two recent events in the great outdoors
Around 200 people gathered at Phoenix Art Museum this week for a transformative evening with Gen-la Kelsang Jampa, Resident Teacher at IKRC Grand Canyon and Deputy Spiritual Director of NKT. Gen-la shared practical advice from Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche in the teaching: “If you want to be happy, you need to develop a peaceful mind; if you want to make others happy, you need to cherish them.”
Following in the footsteps of our Spiritual Guide – The Blessing Empowerment of Je Tsongkhapa with Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong, April 7-9
Kadam Morten, National Spiritual Director for Eastern United States, recently visited KMC Florida for the Florida Dharma Celebration 2023, where he granted the empowermennt of Buddha Avalokiteshvara and gave teachings on training in the Three Recognitions.
“The Liberating Prayer is not an ordinary prayer – It is like a text and has profound meaning.” Listen to the oral transmission of the Liberating Prayer from Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche from the Spring Festival 2006.
This weekend KMC Los Angeles hosted the California Dharma Celebration – a special time for Kadampas in California.
Gen Kelsang Rigpa, Western US National Spiritual Director and Resident Teacher at KMC Los Angeles, granted the blessing empowerment of Buddha White Tara and gave teachings from the practical text on Buddhist psychology and meditation, The New Eight Steps to Happiness by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

Gen Rinchung, National Spiritual Director of Argentina, Peru & Uruguay and Resident Teacher at KMC Argentina, answers “Can you have a positive experience of death?”
The three International Festivals are precious opportunities to receive teachings and empowerments from the Gen-las, and this experience is greatly enhanced if we can spend some time after the Festival in retreat improving our understanding of the teachings and taking their meaning to heart.
