With the arrival of January, Kadampa communities are entering retreat, immersing themselves in retreats on the stages of the path of Sutra and Tantra. From Lamrim meditations according to Mirror of Dharma, to generation and completion stage meditations, retreaters are striving to make spiritual progress on the path to enlightenment. Here we see retreats in Europe and North America.
Early January saw Kadampa centers worldwide host inspiring retreats, from Lamrim and Heart Jewel to life-transforming teachings. Students old and new gathered for meditation, community, and renewal, enjoying deep practice, shared meals, peaceful walks, and energy for the year ahead.
People were greeted by a sea of blue and gold at KMC Paris as they came to receive the blessing empowerment of Medicine Buddha. The assembly was joyful and curious to learn about this Buddha’s healing practice and how to apply it in daily life. A magnificent weekend to begin 2026!
The 2026 Australian Festival was held at Kadampa Meditation Centre Australia in the Dandenong Ranges, where Gen Kelsang Sangden granted the Vajrapani empowerment and taught practical methods for transforming adversity into spiritual power through joyful meditation and Dharma practice together.
Recently at Tharpaland KMC in Germany, Gen Kelsang Ananda granted the empowerment of Buddha Manjushri, teaching how Dharma protects and heals the mind. Participants cultivated wisdom, meditation, and gratitude for Venerable Geshe-la – a perfect beginning to 2026
