Celebrating Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day and the Birthday of our Spiritual Guide
Jun 4, 2026
From February 20–22, our community gathered for a deeply meaningful and transformative event: the Empowerment of Buddha Prajnaparamita.
Over the course of the weekend, participants were guided through teachings and meditations that opened the door to a deeper understanding of wisdom — not merely as an intellectual idea, but as a living experience that can gradually transform the way we see ourselves and the world.
An empowerment is a special guided meditation through which we create a heartfelt connection with an enlightened being and plant powerful seeds within our mind. During this event, many participants described feeling inspired, uplifted, and inwardly strengthened, as if something subtle yet profound had shifted within them.
Buddha Prajnaparamita, the embodiment of the perfection of wisdom, represents the ultimate clarity that dispels confusion and removes inner obstacles. Throughout the weekend, we explored how developing wisdom enables us to overcome mental disturbances, face challenges with greater stability, and cultivate genuine inner peace.
The atmosphere in the Temple was serene and focused, yet warm and joyful. There was a tangible sense of collective intention — people from different backgrounds coming together with a shared wish to grow spiritually and to deepen their understanding of the path.
In times that often feel uncertain or overwhelming, weekends like this remind us that wisdom is not something distant or abstract. It is a potential within each of us — one that can be awakened through sincere practice and guidance.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated and helped create such a beautiful and powerful experience.
Kadam Natalia gave the empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni, basing the teachings on those given at the Spring Festival 2020, which in turn were previously transmitted by Venerable Geshe-la.
Why should we put Buddha's teachings into practice? In the introduction to that Festival, Geshe-la gave three reasons:
How fortunate we are to receive Buddha's blessings and the clear, unmistaken instructions that lead us to permanent liberation from suffering!
June 4 is the Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day on which we celebrate Buddha’s first teaching in this world - the first Turning of the Wheel of Dharma. It is also the birthday of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, the Founder of NKT.
