Celebrating Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day and the Birthday of our Spiritual Guide
Jun 4, 2026
On a recent Saturday, over 70 people gathered at KMC Los Angeles for a truly beautiful day retreat on the emptiness of the self, guided by the inspiring teachings of Gen-la Kelsang Jampa, Deputy Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition–International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU).
Drawing on Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche's precious book Modern Buddhism, Gen-la Jampa led the assembly through a clear and practical exploration of this profound subject — one that lies at the very heart of the path to liberation. Practitioners had the rare opportunity to meditate, reflect, and connect with one another in a warm and meaningful atmosphere, experiencing firsthand how Geshe-la's teachings make even the most profound aspects of Dharma accessible to everyone.
What a precious gift to have such a qualified Teacher share these liberating insights with so many open hearts. The Sangha of KMC Los Angeles is deeply grateful for this special day.
KMC Peru recently had the great joy of welcoming guest Teacher Gen Kelsang Atisha, Resident Teacher of KMC Colombia, for a special weekend of Dharma courses that left a deep and lasting impression on all who attended.
On Saturday, participants explored the topic of anxiety — discovering practical tools to understand their own minds and begin to free themselves from unnecessary worry. On Sunday, a course on love and attachment offered clear and accessible teachings that helped practitioners reflect on how to love more unconditionally, purely and sincerely. Both sessions were warmly received and took place in a harmonious, joyful atmosphere, with the center looking beautiful and welcoming throughout.
The Sangha of KMC Peru expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Gen Kelsang Atisha for sharing such precious teachings, and to everyone who participated and helped organize these events.
From February 13 to 17, practitioners at KMC Campinas in Brazil had the great good fortune to receive Prajnaparamita empowerment — four precious days of teachings, practice, and deep spiritual connection guided by Gen Kelsang Janglam, Resident Teacher of KMC Campinas.
Prajnaparamita is a female Buddha embodying the perfection of wisdom. Through her blessing, practitioners opened their hearts to a wisdom that dispels all obstacles and leads to lasting peace and freedom. The Sangha of KMC Campinas is deeply grateful to Gen Kelsang Janglam and to Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, whose vision makes it possible for practitioners throughout Brazil to encounter such profound Dharma.
June 4 is the Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day on which we celebrate Buddha’s first teaching in this world - the first Turning of the Wheel of Dharma. It is also the birthday of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, the Founder of NKT.
