The Opening of the New Meditation Hall at Tara IKRC
This past weekend was a truly special moment in the history of Tara International Kadampa Retreat Centre, as around 300 people gathered to celebrate the opening of our beautiful new meditation hall with Gen-la Khyenrab.

The occasion began with a warm welcome from our community, followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Gen-la Khyenrab. In his opening talk, Gen-la explained the meaning of the eight auspicious symbols, reminding us of the deeper significance of this new space. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the builders and to the many people whose dedication and hard work brought this vision into being.
As evening fell, the new meditation hall, adorned with vajras, auspicious symbols, and the Dharma Wheel and Deer, shone out as a true place of refuge and peace. It felt clear to everyone present that this was not just a building, but a spiritual home – a space dedicated to public benefit, which will support countless people on their spiritual journey for generations to come.
All gathered to receive teachings
Over the weekend, 160 guests – a joyful mix of Kadampa practitioners from around the world and local people newly drawn to the center – gathered to receive teachings from Gen-la Khyenrab. Across five sessions, he gave a clear and accessible presentation of Buddha’s Four Noble Truths. His teachings were practical and inspiring, with lively question-and-answer sessions that engaged the whole room and deepened our understanding.
BEAUTIFUL Wishfulfilling Jewel puja
In the evenings, we came together for Wishfulfilling Jewel puja with beautiful and carefully prepared offerings. These moments of collective prayer on both Friday and Saturday nights created a profound sense of harmony and connection with Venerable Geshe-la’s vision.
A NEW spacious environment
The new meditation hall itself is a light and spacious environment – with temple-size statues, large windows, and generous seating – set in the peaceful countryside beside Ashe Hall. It is a perfect place to meditate, listen to teachings, and engage in retreat.
The whole weekend was a joyful expression of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche’s great kindness and vision. We feel deeply grateful to be able to offer this new space, and we look forward to welcoming many more people to experience the peace and inspiration it was built to share.
