Purification and Renewal in Portugal
This weekend, over 150 people gathered at the Kadampa Temple for World Peace at KMC Deuachen in Sintra Portugal for a weekend of purification and renewal.
In this beautiful Pure Land emanated from the heart of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, Gen Kelsang Rigden the Resident Teacher granted the empowerment and commentary to Vajrasattva, the Buddha of purification.
Here is their account:
“In the introduction to the weekend, Gen Rigden taught about Buddha’s teachings on the law of karma and how we can use the practice of Vajrasattva to purify our negative karma. He emphasized how we could use transforming adverse conditions into the path as part of our purification practice. How wonderful!
"On the day of the empowerment, we started with beautiful meditation led by Maria João Caldeira, the Teacher at the center in Porto.
“Then came the empowerment itself! Gen Rigden, with Venerable Geshe-la at his heart, guided us step by step to receive the special blessings of the body, speech and mind of Buddha Vajrasattva. It was truly wonderful!
"Then in the commentary, we learned more about the law of karma and the four opponent powers. Gen Rigden gave an abundance of precious advice on how to keep our mind inspired!
"Finally, in accordance with Venerable Geshe-la’s advice, we concluded with a brief retreat led by Gen Rigden. It was a precious opportunity to take to heart through meditation the essence of the teachings we had received.
"Now Buddha Vajrasattva, Dharma and Sangha will be with us in our everyday life.
"Thank you Venerable Geshe-la for this priceless Temple, our precious Teacher and the immaculate Dharma you have given us.”
