Around one hundred fortunate Kadampas from across the Southeast Asian region and beyond recently gathered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for this year's Southeast Asian Dharma Celebration. During this inspiring event our National Spiritual Director, Gen Kelsang Rabten, granted the blessing empowerment of Buddha Vajrasattva and gave commentary to the practice of purification.
With sincere gratitude, all participants rejoiced in the extraordinary kindness of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for granting his blessings and creating the conditions for such meaningful events to flourish across Asia.
For the first time in many years, the Scottish Dharma Celebration with National Spiritual Director, Kadam Brigdet Hayes was held in Edinburgh, hosted by Kadampa Meditation Centre Edinburgh. After much preparation, the Centre welcomed over 100 practitioners from across Scotland to receive the empowerment of Green Tara and teachings on The Path to Heaven — the Transference of Consciousness practice associated with our enlightened mother, Venerable Tara.
On Friday, March 27, the ordained Sangha gathered for a Sojong Ceremony, and the celebration began with a joyful introduction by Gen Kelsang Tubchen, Resident Teacher of KMC Edinburgh.
As Saturday, March 28, dawned, brilliant sunshine filled the meditation room for the blessing empowerment of Green Tara, granted by Kadam Bridget Heyes. The afternoon brought precious teachings based on Venerable Geshe-la's books Living Meaningfully, Dying Joyfully and Clear Light of Bliss, laying the foundation for the commentary to The Path to Heaven.
On Sunday, March 29, Kelsang Yonchen led the morning meditation on The Path to Heaven, after which some of the Sangha enjoyed the sunshine in the center's new Peace Garden. A final teaching with Kadam Bridget was followed by special prayers to Venerable Geshe-la, through whose kindness practitioners have the opportunity to receive precious teachings at centers throughout Scotland and beyond.
Heartfelt thanks go to Kadam Bridget Heyes for traveling to Edinburgh to lead the Celebration, and to all the volunteers whose dedication made the weekend possible. May these activities be a cause for Kadam Dharma to flourish widely in Scotland for generations to come.
From profound retreats and practical teachings to joyful family gatherings, these inspiring events from around the world show how Kadam Dharma helps people cultivate inner peace, wisdom, compassion, and lasting happiness.
