Beautiful restauration work on the statues at Tharpaland
Tharpaland Kadampa Meditation Center recently embarked on a project to replace the garmants of Je Tsonkghapa and his Sons.
The project is in 3 stages, the first of which was to replace the skirts and their fringes. The skirts were shaped to fit each statue and lined by hand. The fringes were attached also by hand and then trimmed.
In the second stage the capes will be replaced and the collars remade. The capes have 84 pleats to symbolize the 84 Mahasiddhas.
Finally, the hats will be remade using gold metallic brocade with the designed slightly modified in keeping with the hat on Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche statue.
