Day 3 ~ precious empowerment
empowering our entire practice
First we learned to listen well and thus create perfect inner conditions for the empowerment of Dorje Shugden. Then yesterday we received this extraordinary empowerment from Gen-la Dekyong. It was so clear, so accessible and so transforming! Receiving the blessings of Dorje Shugden's body, speech and mind, we set out on a very special path.
There’s a powerful sequence here - it’s festival traction taking hold. From the empowerment comes reliance on Guru Tsongkhapa, and from this reliance our experience of Kadam Lamrim is deepened and enriched. This, in turn, creates the perfect foundation for receiving the empowerments of Heruka and Vajrayogini and for success in our practice of Highest Yoga Tantra.

As Genla Dekyong reminded us during the empowerment, the effectiveness of our Highest Yoga Tantra practice - how it works, how it functions to produce results - depends upon pacifying obstacles, gathering favourable conditions and receiving powerful protection.
Yesterday we received the powerful, lasting protection of the Wisdom Buddha Dorje Shugden. An enlightened being whose very function is to pacify obstacles and create favourable conditions within our heart.
And today this remarkable journey continues with Gen-la giving two teachings on Kadam Lamrim.
We are just two days in and already we can feel the locomotive force of Venerable Geshe la’s special method – the NKT-IKBU International Festivals.

MY HEART IS MOVED
How powerful the blessings of our Dharma Protector can be was very palpable to me in the empowerment.
Especially when I remember that Dorje Shugden, Geshe-la and Je Tsongkhapa are one person in different aspects, my heart is moved and I feel my deep connection to the Wisdom Protector.
He is my Guru who guides me and removes all my inner and outer obstacles to my Dharma practice - I have realised once again that I want to rely on him much more, from the bottom of my heart.
Gen-la's explanation that Dorje Shugden also protects and guides our family was particularly inspiring for me.
My newborn son is just two months old and often I don't know what he is looking for. It is good to know that he is spiritually in the care of Guru Dorje Shugden, who is already guiding him through his blessings.
Thank you Gen-la for this precious empowerment.

LOOKING FORWARD TO A BANQUET OF LAMRIM
Yesterday we received from Gen-la Dekyong the Empowerment of the precious Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden.
We are learning, using logical reasoning that Je Tsongkhapa and Dorje Shugden are the same person appearing in different aspects to perform different functions. The previous incarnations of Je Tsongkhapa and Dorje Shugden are the same. This was verified by different realized beings, including Kelsang Khedrubje who independently of each other wrote down the same list of incarnations, which began with Bodhisattva Manjushri.
We can also recognize Dorje Shugden as the Guru, Je Tsongkhapa; as the Deity, Heruka; and as the Dharma Protector. He leads us into the practice of Highest Yoga Tantra and to reveal this he holds a heart of compassion and a wisdom sword, showing that he helps us generate the supreme good heart of universal compassion and Great Bliss, and the wisdom realizing emptiness, the union of Sutra and Highest Yoga Tantra.
Dorje Shugden's function is to remove the obstacles of Dharma practitioners and create favourable conditions for their practice, and his retinue of 32 Deities, who are the same as the Deities of Je Tsongkhapa's Body Mandala all guide and help us in different ways with our practice of Sutra and Tantra.
We received the Empowerments of Dorje Shugden's body, speech and mind to purify our present contaminated body, speech and mind and through Tantric practice we can transform them into an Enlightened Deity's completely pure body speech and mind.
Now we're very much looking forward to the banquet of Lamrim teachings we will receive over the next 2 days.
