In 1992 when opening the new building for Tara Centre, which at the time was still located in Buxton, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche praised the extraordinary contribution Gen-la Khyenrab had made to the growth and development of the center. From its inception, Gen-la has worked tirelessly to fulfill his Spiritual Guide's wish to develop a a modern Kadampa Buddhist center. As Venerable Geshe-la said at the time, "This wonderful development is mainly due to the hard work and dedication of one person."
As Tara Centre continued to grow it moved to its present home, Ash Hall near Derby, where it is now Tara International Kadampa Retreat Centre.
Special moment
What a special moment it was then, when Gen-la arrived last week as the special Guest Teacher to lead the post Spring Festival Retreat!
Gen-la joined the community for the retreat and Offering to the Spiritual Guide puja celebrating Venerable Geshe-la's 90th birthday and then led a powerful retreat on the prayer, Request to the Lord of All Lineages. On Tuesday Gen-la gave a special General Program teaching that was broadcast to hundreds of people online.
For the community, this was a precious time with Gen-la - something they will always look back on with great fondness and gratitude.
