The three types of feeling of ordinary beings

When ordinary beings experience pleasant feelings, they develop attachment, unpleasant feelings cause anger and neutral feelings cause ignorance. These minds lead to all our suffering and problems. However, beings like Arhats and Bodhisattvas, who have attained liberation from suffering through meditation on emptiness, experience only uncontaminated pleasant feelings. Gen-la emphasizes the importance of becoming aware of our own minds and observing automatic reactions to our feelings in order to overcome delusions and suffering.
