Kadam Dharma has been present in the USA since 1979 when Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche first visited. Since then many centers large and small have arisen throughout the country.

In the fall of 2019, the fifth Kadampa Temple for World Peace, based on the mandala and the heavenly mansion of Buddha Heruka, Buddha of Compassion, was inaugurated in the peaceful surroundings of the IKRC Grand Canyon. Both the special five-tiered architectural design and the sacred art within reveal that the temple is a representation of the Pure Land of Heruka Buddha and Vajrayogini Buddha.

Since 2002, KMC Arizona has served the Tucson area - 5 hours away from IKRC Grand Canyon. In 2015, we moved to our new central location with a meditation room for 200, residential area for the managers, and a bookstore/community room.
With the inspiration of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, Gen-la Dekyong began regularly traveling to Phoenix from New Mexico, planting the seeds that would become Clear Light Buddhist Center in 2001. Since that time, the community has grown, becoming Kadampa Meditation Center Phoenix in 2016 and has been an oasis of inner peace for the Metro area. The Center regularly hosts events and retreats at International Kadampa Retreat Center Grand Canyon, just 2.5 hours to the North.
In 2013 Venerable Geshela spotted a large church for sale in the beautiful neighborhood of Los Feliz which the International Temples Project acquired. Over the years, the center moved to various locations throughout the city, including Santa Monica, Westwood, Crenshaw and Elysian Valley. Now called "Kadampa Meditation Center Los Angeles", or KMC LA, the Temple is nestled in the heart of Los Feliz, near Griffith Park, in a bustling and beautiful neighborhood with thousands of people walking and driving by everyday. KMC LA also currently operates three branches (Pasadena, Catalina Island, and Long Beach) with more planned.

Vajrarupini Buddhist Center was founded in 1996. Its name was later changed to Kadampa Meditation Center San Diego.
In 2020 KMC San Diego moved to a beautiful and cozy space in the vibrant Normal Heights neighborhood.

We started in Denver as Avalokiteshvara Center in 2000 as a branch of Heruka Center in Fort Collins, meeting in a rented room. Since then we have grown into a thriving community and are scheduled to complete our new building project in the Fall of 2023. Thousands of Coloradans have walked through KMC Colorado’s doors to learn how to meditate and tap into their own inner source of happiness. Kadam Dharma arrived in Washington DC in 1994, when Vajrayogini Buddhist Center was founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Kadampa Meditation Center Georgia is a modern Buddhist meditation center in the heart of Inman Park, only two-blocks from the Beltline.
We are located on 741 Edgewood Avenue NE, in a redesigned automotive garage dating back to 1938. The vintage brick building once housed AAA Electric Motor Service. The remodeled space features a comfortable meditation room, a children’s meditation area, lounge, gift shop and bookstore.

Kadam Dharma came to Indianapolis, Indiana in the late 1990s. Beginning as Dromtonpa Kadampa Buddhist Center, and later becoming Kadampa Meditation Center Indianapolis, the Center offers classes, workshops, retreats, and other special weekend events.
In 2022, KMC Indianapolis moved into a commercial space on the city’s northwest side. Located just a few short minutes from the city’s major beltway, the beautiful Center is part of a bustling urban district.

Kadampa Meditation Center Boston is located a short walk from the bustling area of Davis Square, on a main street in Cambridge just a mile north of Harvard University. It serves the greater Boston metro area by offering weekly classes and special events.
In addition, branch classes are running with the help of other teachers in Back Bay, Beverly, Newton and Portland, Maine. KMC Boston has developed outreach programs with Harvard University and other local schools and has been offering a monthly free outdoor meditation in the Boston Public Garden in the warmer months, April to September.

Kadampa Meditation Center Maryland, located in Baltimore, is situated in a park-like setting on 1.8 acres of land. The meditation room holds over 100 people, with a large shrine containing temple-sized statues. KMC Maryland is also home to World Peace Cafe Baltimore, and can accommodate 8 residents.
