Welcome to KMC Spain
There is a holiday feeling in the air even as the last preparations take place around KMC Spain. Throughout the day, people arrive from all over the world. As they turn off the main road, there is a feeling of joy to see the Temple in all its splendor gleaming in the Spanish sunshine. Registration is busy, and already the cafes are up and running.
There is such a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere, and at the heart of it all is the Temple with its golden stepped roof rising up into the sky. The gilded vajras and auspicious symbols set against the copper roof reflect the light. People take photo after photo trying to capture its beauty and extraordinary presence.
Buses arrive, and more Kadampas spill out and across the site. There are many happy greetings as people enjoy meeting each other. Meanwhile, people find their rooms, put up tents, and get oriented in their Festival jobs.

Developing Your wisdom
In the evening, there is a feeling of anticipation to head into the Temple to receive teachings once again from Gen-la Dekyong, our much-loved retired General Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition. Gen-la shares very practical teachings given by Geshe-la that help us to understand the nature of the wisdom Buddha Je Tsongkhapa, the function of wisdom, and how to use wisdom to solve our human problems. In particular, we understand that the source of all our inner problems, our painful inner experiences, is our ignorance, and that the solution is to practice Dharma, which will make our mind peaceful and happy.

The Unmistaken Path to Liberation
Gen-la shares a passage with us from Geshe-la, explaining that the great Buddhist master Je Tsongkhapa saw as his main responsibility helping living beings to eliminate their ignorance by improving their wisdom. He understood very clearly that the development of wisdom is the only certain path that leads to freedom from suffering, and spent his whole life giving teachings revealing clearly and unmistakably the path to liberation.
The evening ends in the pitch black of clear night skies, with the Temple illuminated in the dark sky and everyone feeling greatly encouraged and inspired to focus on Dharma and illuminate our minds with wisdom. There is a special feeling of happiness to be together as an international Kadampa community and to have the inner happiness that comes from spending time concentrating on Dharma.
