Sharing Wisdom: Events with Visiting Teachers
May 7, 2026
Last weekend we had a very special visit from our kind National Spiritual Director of Kadampa Buddhism in Mexico, Gen Kelsang Sangden. She skilfully, clearly and compassionately transmitted teachings from the heart of our Spiritual Guide, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.
On Friday, August 22nd, we attended a talk, Meditation Makes You Happy, held at the Best Western Hotel in the city of Pachuca, Hidalgo. In this talk, we learned that the true cause of happiness is inner peace, and to obtain it we must cultivate virtuous states of mind such as patience, love and compassion. The practice of meditation is a method for familiarizing our mind with virtue. In this way we will enjoy lasting peace and happiness.
In this course, we understood that modern Buddhism presents a scientific method to permanently eliminate the problems of all sentient beings and cultivate pure and lasting happiness. It is an internal science of the mind, an ancient wisdom for the modern world. Gen Sangden explained how to cultivate virtuous states of mind in meditation and how to carry these minds into our daily life.
We are happy to share some special moments from our weekend events.
During the public talk, we learned that anger blinds us to the good qualities and kindness of others. We also received practical advice on how to identify, reduce, and ultimately eliminate anger from our minds.
In the retreat, we had four sessions where we explored the faults of anger and the many benefits of developing patience.
What a wonderful opportunity it was to discover effective methods for overcoming anger! Heartfelt thanks to Venerable Geshe-la for making this possible, to our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Shima, for the inspiring teachings, and to all the attendees who helped make these events so special and magical.
Kadampa centers in Liverpool, Athens, Madrid, Albacete, and Tara IKRC hosted a variety of inspiring events. Through public talks, retreats, and day courses, practitioners gathered together, reflecting the dedication of the local Sangha and the visiting Teachers who shared these precious teachings.
