Work Day with Resident Teachers preparing for International Summer Festival
Jul 21, 2026
We celebrated Buddha's Enlightenment Day with joyful gatherings and Nyungnay retreats to purify negative karma.
This is a day to celebrate our own innate potential to become enlightened and to rejoice in Buddha's great kindness in showing us a path to follow.
With joy and inner strength, nearly fifty people took part in the Nyungnay purification retreat at the beautiful KMC Cuernavaca. Over two days, after taking the eight Mahayana precepts, we engaged in chanted prayers to Avalokiteshvara to receive powerful blessings and purify obstacles to our spiritual practice.
In her heartfelt introduction, our dear Teacher, Gen Kelsang Nampur, explained the importance of purifying negative karma, reminding us that we have all committed harmful actions in the past.
Surrounded by a warm and peaceful atmosphere, we enjoyed meaningful conversations during the breaks, sharing insights from our spiritual path. With trust in our Spiritual Guide, we undertook fasting and made prostrations on behalf of all living beings.
Thank-you to all 13 participants in our recent Nyungnay fasting and purification retreat. Together we enjoyed a meaningful, quiet, peaceful day together with Buddha Avalokiteshvara. A day full of blessings for us all.
May the sense of peace and community we created together stay in our hearts as we go about our daily lives.
On Sunday, Resident Teachers participating in the International Teacher Training Program took a break from their studies to help with the Summer Festival Preparations.
