Spring Festival 2025 Day 1
May 23, 2025
What better way to spend NKT Day than by receiving the powerful blessings of Medicine Buddha in the glorious April sunshine at Madhyamaka KMC.
Many new people joined the modern Kadampa community here in sunny Yorkshire to heal their minds with the special blessings of Medicine Guru and receive the precious Dharma wisdom of Gen-la Kunsang's commentary.
Thank you, Venerable Geshe-la, for shining the sun of holy Dharma on our Dharma community and allowing us to heal our minds and heal the world.
Last weekend, we had the great fortune to receive the profound and special blessings of Shakyamuni Buddha, along with the inspiring commentary on the Liberating Prayer - a jewel of wisdom offered to the modern world by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.
Our dear National Spiritual Director, Gen Kelsang Sangden, guided us with her wisdom and warmth, reminding us of the great kindness of Buddha, who teaches us not only how to enter and tread the spiritual path, but also how to complete it: achieving ultimate liberation from suffering and supreme enlightenment for the benefit of all beings.
Gen Sangden's words,
"Buddha alone teaches us that we have a very subtle, hard-to-recognize mental disturbance that dwells in us moment by moment, day by day, life after life: The ignorance of self-grasping, which is the root cause of all our suffering. And only Buddha shows us how to free ourselves from it through direct understanding of emptiness. What great kindness,"
With firmness and compassion, she encouraged us not to distracted ourselves from our problems, but to face them in order to eliminate them in a definitive way, following step by step in the footsteps of Buddha.
Thank you, Gen Sangden, for sharing these precious spiritual treasures with us. Thank you, Venerable Geshe-la, for bequeathing to us a clear and compassionate path in this world full of pain and confusion. May we, generation after generation, follow your teachings, free ourselves from suffering and benefit countless beings.
This weekend, our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Chime, granted us the Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara empowerment. What great fortune to connect with the Buddha of compassion! Inspired by the teachings from Summer Festival 2008, she shared with us profound instructions from the book Universal Compassion by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. These fundamental Kadampa Buddhist teachings guide us in training the mind, helping us to transform our adverse circumstances into opportunities for spiritual growth. The essence of these practices is to cultivate genuine compassion for all sentient beings.
We are deeply grateful to Venerable Geshe-la for giving us access to these invaluable teachings, and to all the attendees and volunteers who made this special event possible. May these blessings and teachings reach all beings so that they too may walk the path to supreme inner peace.
