The Power of Prayer at Manjushri KMC

WEEKEND COURSE WITH GEN-LA KELSANG DEKYONG

"Our Job is to Pray"

Hundreds of Kadampas gathered together at our Mother Centre to receive profound, uplifting and deeply optimistic teachings on the Power of Prayer from our General Spiritual Director, Gen-la Dekyong.

Gen-la Dekyong shared both oral and written teachings and guidance received from Venerable Geshe-la to help us to understand the meaning behind his words, 'Our Job is to Pray'.

The weekend gave participants an opportunity to deeply contemplate the nature of prayer, how to make our prayers effective and how to strengthen our determination to actively rely on the power of prayer.

Living in such uncertain times, with so many dangers and problems, this timely course touched everyone's hearts and deepened our confidence in our practices to bring definite results in the future. As Venerable Geshe-la has said with respect to prayer, "I believe you will solve the worlds's problems gradually."

The last teaching session was an explanation of how to engage in Prayers for World Peace and Gen-la emphasised the importance of these prayers as a public service to help everyone to cherish each other. Then in a full Temple we engaged in these prayers with a strong intention to bring peace to our world.

At the completion of the main body of teachings, fortunate practitioners stayed on at Manjushri to engage in a very powerful retreat with Gen Ananda, the National Spiritual Director of Germany.

Between sessions there was a joyful, loving atmosphere as people enjoyed the peaceful grounds, joined in with helping and spent time with Sangha friends. The temple looked particularly beautiful illuminated against the dark starry sky for the evening sessions.
