The National Spiritual Director for France, Gen Eupamé, recently visited KMC Paris, where he gave a talk which was attended both in person and online, followed by a full-day course on the theme of concentration. The weekend continued with Gen Tonpa, our Resident Teacher at KMC Paris, who helped us explore the topic of concentration in greater depth.
Last weekend, we had the great pleasure of welcoming Gen Kelsang Eupamé, National Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition in France and Resident Teacher of KMC France.
Over 90 people participated in these two very beautiful events:
First we held a day course called Turning our Difficulties into Opportunities. Gen Eupamé gave invaluable advice on how to transform adverse conditions into the path, based on the book The New Eight Steps to Happiness by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
Then, at a public talk on the theme Keys to Calm Stress and Anxiety, Gen Eupamé explained the nature of fears, their origin, and ways to resolve these fears by moving from meditation on the breath to calm the mind, to meditations to counter attachment and unrealistic expectations, and finally a meditation on emptiness.
We were able to share a sociable meal with the Sangha in a restaurant near the meditation center and Gen Eupamé also led a very beautiful Sojong for the ordained Sangha.
Many thanks to Gen Eupamé for his attention to each of the participants, his inspiring example of the practice of Buddha's teachings in daily life, his depth and his humor allowing first time visitors as well as long-term practitioners to receive Kadam Dharma teachings.
Feedback from attendees:
"Wonderful, what great good fortune we have! If only for the explanation of the practice of patient acceptance, thank you.”
“The notion of emptiness is a discovery and challenge: the house that I normally see does not exist, I cannot touch it….”
We were so fortunate to have Gen Tonglam visit KMC Manchester on his way back to Hong Kong from guiding the January retreat at Manjushri KMC. He gave a public talk called Free Your Mind Through Meditation.
Over 70 people enjoyed this event, where Gen Tonglam emphasized how lasting happiness can only be achieved by abandoning distraction and self-grasping, and cultivating mental peace, love and compassion.
Many thanks to Gen Tonglam and to our precious volunteers for making the event so wonderful!
