Fall Festival 2024 ~ Day 1
Oct 25, 2024
Two wonderful occasions to celebrate! Two centers hosted their official openings: Ganden Ling KMC in Cornwall, and KMC Nottingham, with its new building at Gedling House along with its 30th anniversary celebration.
We had a fantastic day for our official opening on August 25th, with our kind National Spiritual Director, Kadam Bridget Heyes. Our new meditation room was full of guests: current members from across the county, past and present Teachers, and others who have supported the Cornish Sangha in maintaining their deep wish for a center since its naming in 2001.
After a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Kadam Bridget gave an inspiring talk on gratitude, encouraging us to recognize and repay the kindness of others, including our precious Spiritual Guide, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, and all living beings.
Kadam Chris Heyes then led a beautiful meditation on this topic. After lunch, we engaged in Offering to the Spiritual Guide prayers and finished the day with cake, relaxation, and an opportunity to connect with the Sangha community.
We are incredibly grateful to Kadam Bridget for officiating this special ceremony and to everyone who has helped make this center a reality. Special thanks to those who continue to work hard to run our courses and classes. It took time, but we got there in the end!
May Kadam Dharma flourish in Cornwall and beyond!
A milestone was celebrated as Nottingham Kadampa Meditation Centre marked its 30-year journey of spreading Kadam Dharma in the region. This event was made even more special with the official opening of the center at Gedling House.
Many volunteers and members of the community, including kind helpers from Heart Jewel Kadampa Buddhist Centre, joined in preparations for the grand opening. The center's outdoor and indoor areas were cleaned and painted, and two sets of the Collected Works by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche were finally placed in the new shrine, signifying the completion of the preparations.
