A Spiritual Weekend in South America
Dec 12, 2024

For those attending both weeks of the Festival, today is the free day. A day to pause, to rest, to do laundry, to visit the charming local town of Ulverston for afternoon tea or to take a hike up the Hoad or a mountain peak. The Lake District is a beautiful National Park with stunning views, gorgeous lakes and many wonderful activities for families and national or international visitors to enjoy.
Meanwhile volunteering teams are in action making beds and getting everything ready for the second week of the Festival. In true British fashion the weather is very changeable with rain, sun and wind all in one day but nothing dampens the spirits of Festival goers!
All day, people are arriving for the second week. Tents are erected, registration is busy again, people are enjoying meeting old friends, happy to be physically present at Manjushri Center and looking forward to a spiritual holiday.
Throughout the Festival many different meetings take place that contribute to the ongoing development of our International Kadampa Buddhist Union. This is a wonderful opportunity for Center managers and Teachers to hear about activities happening around the world. Tonight there was the Annual General Meeting of the NKT Charity, always a very inspiring occasion as we hear about the many International Temples Project developments over the past year.
