BreAKING GROUND AT KMC NEW YORK

The new dining and accommodations building

18

On October 13, the contractors broke ground on the new accommodations and dining room building at KMC New York.

However, kind Kadampa volunteers started work well before then. In order to prepare the area for the contractors to start their work, they had to take up the road grid and gravel that was running through the building site. Following the lead of the Facilities Manager, Michael, a group of residents and local students ripped up the grid and moved all of the gravel in one day! An incredible feat.

From that point on, the contractors started digging to create the basement level, and then poured the first round of concrete, followed by the columns, and now formations for the walls are up!

Here are some photos of the progress from taking up the road to the present day.
