A weekend of firsts in Spain
This weekend witnessed firsts in two cities in Spain. In Málaga in the south of Spain, the first empowerment was given at the urban Temple, and in Girona in the north, the first empowerment was given in the city.
A first for the city of Málaga
Malaga lit up under the light of Buddha Shakyamuni last weekend, when Gen Kelsang Chokga, Resident Teacher at KMC Spain and NKT-IKBU National Spiritual Director for Spain & Portugal, granted the blessing empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni.
"This was the first ever empowerment at the City Temple, a historic event for the city of Málaga, famous as the Mediterranean city of light.
"Around 90 people from the city, surrounding areas and other Spanish regions got together in person and online to receive the inner light of wisdom of Buddha Shakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism in this world. How fortunate!"
A first for the city of Girona
Kadam Dharma was originally introduced to the northern Spanish city of Girona over 30 years ago by Gen Tharpa. Since then, thanks to the dedication of a large, dedicated team of volunteers, it has continued to grow there, and KBC Girona is now firmly established in the city.
This last weekend, for the first time in Girona, the blessing empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni empowerment was granted by Gen Lochani, Resident Teacher of KMC Barcelona.
"Gen Lochani holds Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso deep in her heart. The empowerment she granted has awakened the potential that we all share, the potential to find peace inside of ourselves.
"Thank you to everyone for making this possible."
