September 22 marks the celebration of Buddha’s Return from Heaven Day, a special occasion for Buddhists around the world. On this day, many engage in meditation, prayers, and teachings to honor Buddha’s return.
The US Festival this year took place for the first time ever at the International Kadampa Retreat Center Grand Canyon in Arizona with Gen-la Kelsang Jampa.
Visiting teachers travelled to give courses at KMC Toulouse, KMC Cuernavaca and KMC Bilbao. They taught the path of compassion and wisdom, and how to lead a life of profound purpose.
Coming together in different ways allows us to build strong connections and enhance the community spirit at Kadampa centers. Recently, two centers – KMC Montreal and KMC Chile – engaged in successful community activities that also contributed to the International Temples Project, which is dedicated to creating places of peace around the globe.

September 22 marks the celebration of Buddha’s return from heaven, when we celebrate Buddha’s return from the desire god realm called Land of the Thirty-three Heavens, so-called because it has thirty-three different types of god.
During the first weeks of September in North America, four centers organized prominent public talks about emptiness, happiness, and well-being. Here we feature KMC-DC (Washington), Je Tsongkhapa KBC in Pachuca, KMC Ottawa’s visit to Quebec, and KMC Merida.
Last week in South America there were three blessed events that deepened students’ connection with Guru Buddha. The Colombian Dharma Celebration was hosted by KMC Colombia, the Bodhisattva Vow was given in the World Peace Temple at KMC Brazil, and a Buddha Shakyamuni empowerment at Wisdom KBC, Concepcion, Chile.
Retreating from our busy daily lives to relax, deepen our Dharma understanding, and enhance our meditation practice is a wonderful opportunity to make progress on our spiritual path. Recently, centers in sunny Florida, the mountainous suburbs of Madrid, and the peaceful English countryside provided environments for rejuvenating and meaningful breaks.
