Fall Festival 2024 ~ Day 2
Oct 27, 2024
21 September 2024
During the first weeks of September in North America, four centers organized prominent public talks about emptiness, happiness, and well-being. Here we feature KMC-DC (Washington), Je Tsongkhapa KBC in Pachuca, KMC Ottawa's visit to Quebec, and KMC Merida.
A full house at KMC-DC enthusiastically received Gen-la Jampa’s teachings on the power of a positive mind and meditation as medicine in a joyful weekend.
Gen-la’s skilful message emphasized Lojong, training the mind techniques, and teachings on ultimate truth—or emptiness—as the ultimate cure for our negative minds and delusions. Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Demo, guided meditations to reinforce the teachings so everyone could take them more deeply into their hearts.
The weekend concluded with a beautiful and profound Offering to the Spiritual Guide puja, allowing participants to deepen their connection with the Buddhas and our root Guru.
Gen Kelsang Sangden, National Spiritual Director of the NKT-IKBU in Mexico, Peru and Colombia, visited Je Tsongkhapa KBC in Pachuca and shared with us Buddha's precious teachings on how phenomena and ourselves exist and how to meditate on this profound truth.
All our sufferings have a single root. Even just developing the desire to understand that everything we perceive does not exist from its own side, but rather as a projection of our mind, we can begin to create the cause to free ourselves completely from this inner enemy and from all our suffering.
We thank the participants and pray that the merit we accumulate will enable all beings to enjoy the necessary conditions to receive these wonderful teachings.
We had a wonderful public talk by Gen Kelsang Thekchen in Wakefield Québec last Saturday morning. About fifty friendly people from the area were happy to join us and filled the Salon of the Centre Wakefield La Pêche.
Although there were some activities and music outside due to a busy farmers' market, inside everyone was captivated by Gen Thekchen's wonderful talk, Hope, Happiness and Wellbeing.
A steady sense of stillness filled the air during the guided meditation. As they left, people chatted enthusiastically with us and seemed very excited about coming to our next series of courses in Wakefield in the coming months.
Last week more than 100 people joined us for the talk: Love Without Pain given by our Resident Teacher, Gen Chime.
We learned that we are responsible for our own happiness, and that no one can make us happy because happiness depends on our peace of mind. Love is a virtuous mind and when we love others we will enjoy a peaceful and happy mind. We have to distinguish love from attachment because the latter only causes problems and suffering and we have to remove it from our mind.
Thank you to all who attended and to the wonderful team of volunteers who lovingly and generously made this event possible. We hope that Buddha's advice we received last night will help us all to have more loving, attachment-free relationships.
May the precious Dharma Kadam continue to flourish on the Yucatán Peninsula.
