Precious Moments of Retreat

KMC Canada, KMC Vancouver and KMC Fraser Valley recently enjoyed two special away retreats

Time for reflection

From Ontario to Bowen Island

Across Canada, practitioners from KMC Canada, KMC Vancouver and KMC Fraser Valley recently enjoyed two special retreats, creating precious opportunities to step away from busy routines, spend time in nature and silence, and deepen their meditation practice. From Ontario to Bowen Island, participants came together to reflect on the meaning of life, develop inner peace and concentration, and enjoy the warmth and inspiration of practicing Dharma together. Both retreats left participants with renewed energy, peaceful minds, and many beautiful memories to take home.

Meditative Concentration

Silent Retreat

About 45 people from KMC Canada(opens in new tab) enjoyed a wonderful silent retreat on meditative concentration at Five Oaks Retreat Cenre, in Paris, Ontario, over the Labour Day weekend.

Five meditation sessions each day gave us the chance to focus single-pointedly on a chosen object of meditation and become more familiar with it, training our minds to stay with one peaceful object instead of following every distraction.

We took home so many beautiful Dharma Jewels, and our minds felt so refreshed after stepping away from our usual routines and spending more time in meditation, silence, and nature.

Thank you to Gen Chodor for the clear teachings and meditation guidance throughout the weekend, to Rose and David for the delicious meals, and to all the other kind volunteers who made this retreat possible!

Retreat on Bowen Island

Living Meaningfully, Dying Joyfully.

Last weekend, Gen Sanden and Gen Delek led a transformative retreat on Bowen Island, Canada. The topic was Living Meaningfully, Dying Joyfully.

During this inspiring event, we explored the preciousness of our lives and the inevitability of our death. We learned simple but impactful meditations to help us make each moment of our life meaningful and spiritual. Death is not to be feared. It can be a powerful teacher to help us to understand the true purpose of our precious human life.

28 participants from KMC Vancouver(opens in new tab) and KMC Fraser Valley(opens in new tab), some attending retreat for the first time, enjoyed this quiet, reflective time. There was also time for walks, reading, Dharma discussions and, of course, volunteering to help the retreat run smoothly. One participant remarked how accessible the guided meditations were and how they were suitable for everybody, including those who were new to meditation.
