Northeast Dharma Celebration 2026
Around 250 practitioners gathered at World Peace Temple in Glen Spey(opens in new tab) for this year’s Northeast Dharma Celebration, held from September 4–7. The weekend began with an introduction from Kadam Donna Campanelli, who reminded us that practicing Dharma can be fun. She encouraged us to appreciate how joyful it is to apply Buddha’s teachings to our daily life, particularly through cherishing others. This message continued in Gen Khedrub’s morning meditations, setting the tone for a joyful weekend.
After Kadam Morten granted the blessing empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni, practitioners came together over home-cooked meals, connected at the café, and enjoyed the beautiful blue skies above KMC New York.
Kadam Morten shared Venerable Geshe-la’s commentary on the profound meaning of The Liberating Prayer(opens in new tab), while Gen Samten guided a retreat in which practitioners had the opportunity to contemplate the meaning of its individual verses.
With each teaching, meditation and moment shared with Sangha, our appreciation for Buddha Shakyamuni and The Liberating Prayer continued to grow. The weekend offered a precious opportunity to become more familiar with this prayer and to bring its meaning into our meditation experience.

Changing Our Mind, Changing Our World
Kadampa Meditation Center Boston was delighted to welcome Kadam Morten, International Kadampa Teacher and Resident Teacher of KMC New York, for a special public talk in Boston’s vibrant Seaport district.
On a bright Saturday afternoon, around 100 people gathered at the Renaissance Hotel to receive precious Kadam Dharma teachings. For many, this was their first experience of Kadam Dharma, with around 70 attendees discovering the event through local advertising and the Center’s outdoor meditation classes in Boston Public Garden.
In his talk, Change Your Mind, Change Your World, Kadam Morten explored our experience of samsara and the potential we all have to free ourselves and benefit others. Rather than trying to change the external world, he explained how we can transform our experience by changing our mind and learning to relate differently to the karma unfolding in our life. In this way, we can create new virtuous karma and gradually develop lasting happiness and peace.
The event was a precious opportunity for many people to encounter Kadam Dharma for the first time. Through the Center’s summer outreach and free outdoor meditation events, local people were invited to discover Buddha’s practical teachings in their own neighborhood.
We are very grateful to Kadam Morten for this auspicious visit and for sharing teachings that will continue to benefit many people.
