Post Spring Festival retreats in Spain
Jun 6, 2026
Over 200 people from around the world participated in this year’s Winter Retreats at Kadampa Meditation Center New York. Each January and February, Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Samten guides six weeks of teachings and meditation on The Oral Instructions of Mahamudra, offering practitioners a rare opportunity to deepen their experience of Kadam Dharma in retreat conditions.
Through snowstorms and frigid temperatures, retreatants not only received profound teachings from Gen Samten but also joyfully helped create harmonious and supportive retreat conditions. Between sessions, teams of volunteers could be seen clearing snowy paths and caring for the retreat environment with great dedication.
Gently emerging from silence after six weeks of retreat, practitioners shared warm embraces before departing, carrying the inner peace and clarity cultivated in retreat back to their daily lives.
With deep gratitude to our most precious Spiritual Guide, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, they returned inspired to share these blessings with others and help create a more peaceful world.
‘This retreat centre represents the real Mount Kailash, the mandala of Heruka’ - Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
We are delighted to share some highlights and evidently extraordinary results of an especially blessed inner journey undertaken by nearly 50 fortunate, international Kadampas in silent retreat at ‘Mount Kailash’ for the last 6 weeks!
Initially emphasising and engaging in the four great preliminary guides as presented in The Oral Instructions of Mahamudra for 3 weeks, then absorbing into the five stages of the actual practice of Mahamudra in these ideal retreat conditions.
And heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making this an unforgettable experience.
Nine very fortunate practitioners from Mexico, France, Argentina, and Spain undertook this profound spiritual journey in the truly precious and peaceful environment of KMC Barcelona. Surrounded by beautiful, natural scenery, they devoted themselves wholeheartedly with a single motivation: to improve their spiritual practice in order to benefit all living beings.
During this time, they accumulated vast merit and deepened their connection with Heruka and the path to enlightenment.
Today, we warmly congratulate these Bodhisattvas and rejoice in the immense merit created through this precious retreat. May the blessings and positive energy generated here spread throughout the world and bring benefit to all living beings.
