Inspiring Visits from Senior Teachers
Jun 2, 2026
Hundreds of Kadampas from near and far gathered at our Mother Center to hear Gen-la Dekyong share teachings on Vajrasattva purification. The joy of listening and practicing together filled the Temple in these early days of winter.
Over 500 Kadampas gathered in person in the UK, with many more also joining online, for an early winter weekend with Gen-la Dekyong on how to cultivate a pure life through purifying our mind. The teachings are profound and transformative. From a foundation of understanding karma and developing the wish to purify our mind and its appearances; through the most sublime Tantric journey with Buddha Vajrasattva; and the most profound practices of self-generation and completion stage. Gen-la's kindness and dedication are clear as she shares the jewels of Dharma that she has collected together over a lifetime of practice and in dialogue with Venerable Geshe-la.
Between sessions the cafes are open; people join in and help out or relax with others. There are peaceful walks to the Bay, snow on the hills and clear, starry, dark skies with a half moon shining bright. The Temple glows in the dark of the early evenings and there is nowhere better to be than right where we are.
People travelled from across the UK, Ireland and Europe to attend, and it feels like a mini Festival: the same sense of a family of practitioners coming together. For many, a feeling of arriving back at their spiritual home, and the happiness and belonging that brings. Some, coming from their local centers, experience the beauty and peace of Manjushri Centre for the first time. A joyful and inspiring occasion of visiting the first Kadampa Temple for World Peace and discovering the vibrancy and strength of Kadam Dharma in the UK.
Gen Lochani from Spain guides the meditations and retreat and her clear meditations help everyone to take the teachings to heart and to feel the power of sincere purification practice. As Geshe-la has said, "The meditation and recitation of Vajrasattva is superior to other purification practices." Why? Because all Buddhas specifically appear in the form of Vajrasattva to purify the minds of living beings. In addition, the practice includes all four opponent powers of purification making it a complete and deeply effective purification practice.
We are greatly encouraged, and many centers around the UK have Vajrasattva retreats taking place in the coming weekends. Why not join one near you to find out more and experience the power of purifying your mind for yourself!
Visiting Teachers brought practical wisdom and joyful inspiration to Kadampa communities in Fort Collins and Guadalajara, helping participants discover greater inner peace, concentration, and freedom from anxiety.
