Preparations nearly complete – Summer Festival 2026
Jul 22, 2026
Recently, Kadampa Meditation Center Copenhagen celebrated its 20th Anniversary. The first teaching in Copenhagen took place on October 31, 2005, following Venerable Geshe-la’s compassionate wish to open a center in Denmark.
Venerable Geshe-la initiated the center with a simple Buddha Shakyamuni postcard in an envelope, upon which he wrote the original name — Clear Light Kadampa Buddhist Center. The center became Kadampa Meditation Center Copenhagen in 2016.
The 20th Anniversary celebration was marked with the empowerment of Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara and a joyful birthday gathering. The four-day event, entitled The Purifying Power of Compassion, featured the same empowerment that Venerable Geshe-la granted during the 2005 Summer Festival, when the center was first initiated.
Kadam Tim Larcombe granted the empowerment and gave teachings on the Avalokiteshvara Sadhana from The Mirror of Dharma with Additions.
Morning meditations were guided by Lidet, and the short retreat on the practice was led by Karen.
With heartfelt gratitude, we thank Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for providing this center for the people of Denmark, and we extend our thanks to everyone who has supported and contributed to the center over the past two decades. We look forward to the next 20 years of bringing Kadam Dharma to the people of Denmark!
About 60 of our KMC New Mexico community recently gathered for the blessing empowerment of Avalokiteshvara granted by our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Khyenwang. It was a beautiful ceremony where some, young and old, received their very first empowerment.
On the second day we engaged in Avalokiteshvara Sadhana to develop our compassion and awaken our Buddha nature. It was a powerful weekend at KMC NM.
On Sunday, November 9th KBC Nice was filled with joy and serenity as students gathered for the empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni. It was a truly uplifting day, giving everyone a chance to connect with the peaceful nature of their own mind.
A huge thank you to all the participants — your support and presence made this beautiful event possible.
We warmly invite everyone to join us for future events and experience the peace and inspiration that comes from practicing together.
Over the weekend of November 8-9th Resident Teacher Kadam Lucy James gave the powerful empowerment of Je Tsongkhapa with teachings about the daily Kadampa practice of Heart Jewel. Just over 60 people attended with some coming from our sister center in Fort Collins, Heruka KMC. Kadam Lucy gave teachings on how to practice Heart Jewel effectively and great encouragement to practice regularly. A student whose first empowerment was this weekend stated, “Although, I have been coming off and on for a couple of years I definitely feel differently about my practice. I feel like I now have a connection with him (Je Tsongkhapa) and that my heart is different, better, than before. I am excited to read the book Heart Jewel and learn more.”
For the more experienced students many felt that this was a perfect experience to have after receiving many powerful teachings and empowerments during the 2025 International Festivals, especially Dorje Shugden empowerment and teaching at Fall Festival at the IKRC.
Behind the scenes, every corner of the Mother Centre is alive with joyful activity as everyone prepares to welcome visitors with warmth and care. All areas are working at full capacity, filled with a spirit of dedication and cheerful effort.
