Meaningful events
in the United States

Kadampa Centers make Dharma available to people in many ways, by organizing a diverse range of activities. Examples include the Families Weekend at the Temple in New York and the Q&A session at KMC Washington, Seattle.

A Special Weekend for Families at KMC New York

Families Weekend, held in August at KMC New York, brought families together in a meaningful way. We kicked off the weekend with time in the Temple for World Peace, exploring ways we can respond to everyday challenges with a balanced and peaceful mind.

The weekend was filled with fun activities around the beautiful wooded grounds. Families enjoyed activities such as nature walks, giant bubbles, treasure hunts, and an overall relaxing and joyful time together connecting with other kids and parents. One of the weekend highlights was ending the day with campfire s’mores.

Many families left feeling excited and inspired for next year’s Families Weekend.

Living Kindness: A Community Conversation

On Monday Aug 18, KMC Washington offered an event posing questions such as: What does it mean to actually live a life of loving kindness? And how can we become more loving and kind in our busy modern lives?

Resident Teacher, Kadam Trina, MC’d the evening and asked these questions and more to a panel of four Buddhist practitioners. They answered questions with regard to work, family, jobs, health and many other aspects of life. How do they actually practice loving kindness? What are their experiences from this practice?

It was a delightful, relaxed evening with Sangha and an important, meaningful community building event for us. Refreshments after were billed as a Pie Social and attendees were encouraged to bring their favorite pie to share (and boy did they!). It was a really fun evening!
