Inspiring Visits from Senior Teachers
Jun 2, 2026
On a radiant late summer’s day, Kadampa Meditation Center Austria invited friends and practitioners on Sunday, August 24, to a special outing in the Lainzer Tiergarten in Vienna. In one of the city’s largest nature reserves, people gathered to enjoy meditation, the beauty of nature, and the joy of community.
After a warm welcome, the group began the walk up to the viewpoint “Wiener Blick.” Along the way, Kelsang Sila, Resident Teacher at KMC Austria, guided a meditation in the forest. For many, it was a moving experience — to quiet the mind in the stillness of nature, develop clarity, and receive the special blessings of inner peace.
At the top, a wide panoramic view over the city of Vienna rewarded the effort. During the shared picnic — filled with laughter, joy, and heartfelt conversation — everyone enjoyed the precious time with Sangha in cheerful companionship.
Finally, the group made their way back down, where Kelsang Sila led a short breathing meditation. With a sense of lightness, inspiration, and deep connection, a truly blessed day came to a close.
Heartfelt thanks to all the participants who made this hiking day so special!
On Tuesday, Aug 12, Heruka KMC in Fort Collins welcomed nurses and social workers from Weld County, Colorado to the center as part of their professional staff development program. Resident Teacher Kerrin Perniciaro guided a meditation and gave a talk on Dealing with Stress. Afterwards, our guests had questions about the water offerings on the shrine and some of the different Buddha statues.
Also, here is a picture of some happy faces following our Sat, Aug 16 Lay Pratimoksha Vow Ceremony. Five of our study program students requested to take the Pratimoksha Vows, a moral discipline practice motivated by renunciation that leads to personal liberation. How wonderful!
A farewell and welcome celebration combined: Gen Sangye leaves Samudra Kadampa Buddhist Centre to begin his three year retreat at Kailash IRC in Switzerland and Gen Dema arrives to be the new Resident Teacher.
Thank you Geshe-la, for all our good fortune to have these wonderful opportunities to help Dharma to flourish. We wish Gen Sangye a very meaningful retreat and thank him for all his hard work and we warmly welcome Gen Dema.
On Saturday, August 16, Maitreya Kadampa Buddhist Centre joined in with the annual Bexhill Day celebrations with a stall on the promenade. This was our third year joining other local charities and organizations for the Bexhill Town Council event.
We spent a wonderful day chatting with passers-by, both locals and visitors, explaining about our classes and courses and inviting them to come along when regular classes restart in September.
Thanks everyone for a great day!
Visiting Teachers brought practical wisdom and joyful inspiration to Kadampa communities in Fort Collins and Guadalajara, helping participants discover greater inner peace, concentration, and freedom from anxiety.
