Spring Festival 2026 Day 6
May 27, 2026
A group of Londoners from Heruka KMC, along with friends from around the world, swapped city life for stillness on a deeply inspiring away retreat at Kailash International Retreat Centre, nestled high in the Swiss Alps.
Led by Kadam John McBretney (Resident Teacher at Heruka KMC, London) and Kadam Ai Peng McBretney (Resident Teacher at Duldzin Dragpa KBC), the retreat explored the transformative themes of love, compassion, and cherishing others. Over several days, participants immersed themselves in guided meditations and teachings designed to help them go deep into their minds — high up in the mountains.
With warm sunshine and clear skies, retreaters enjoyed freshly cooked meals on the center’s panoramic balcony, and shared walks through the local Yak Farm trail. They reconnected with their hearts in Kailash’s stunning traditional wooden shrine room.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Kailash for so kindly organizing the event and for their warm hospitality throughout. Their kindness, care and attention to detail helped every guest feel supported, loved, and completely at home. We can’t wait to return soon!
It was a rare and unforgettable opportunity to step away from life’s busyness and discover a more peaceful, loving way of being.
Practitioners from across our region and as far away as Calgary and Portland gathered for a precious opportunity to deepen our experience of Vajrayogini practice. We met in the beautiful surroundings of Lake Connamarra, a tiny lake in a mountain valley near Hope, BC.
Gen Delek and Gen Sanden gave clear instructions and guided us in beautiful meditations on various aspects of Quick Path to Great Bliss, including the kusali tsog offering, the three bringings, and body mandala practice. On Saturday evening, we celebrated our day of practice with a tsog offering and Q&A.
Owners Jacqui and Quentin hosted us in their beautiful inn and treated us to amazing home-cooked meals with fresh green salads from their garden. Surrounded by forest, flower meadows and birdsong, it was easy to feel that we were enjoying a pure land!
Please enjoy some images that speak a thousand words ... of the empowerment of White Tara at Tara Kadampa Buddhist Center in Sherbrooke, Quebec, with Kelsang Zhiné ... and of a united and active community where everyone can receive priceless Dharma.
Thank you to everyone who attended and to the precious volunteers who created this beautiful day filled with virtue.
The temple is full of dedicated practitioners from around the world meditating in two final sessions on deepening our mind of compassion until it transforms into the compassion of a Buddha. In this way we awaken our Buddha nature - wishing to attain Enlightenment for all living beings.
