Jun 4, 2026
The last Kadampa National Festival this year is going to take place in Singapore on 13 – 16 December 2024. Attendees will receive the blessing empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni and Teachings on Liberating Prayer, led by Gen Kelsang Rabten the National Spiritual Director of Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
Gen Tonglam, the National Spiritual Director of East Asia and the Resident Teacher of KMC Hong Kong will teach the Introduction at the Festival and Gen Lamchung, the Resident Teacher of Vajrapani KBC in Penang will lead the meditations. The Festival will be accessible both in-person and online.
Liberating Prayer is not an ordinary prayer – It is like a text and has profound meaning. All Lamrim teachings – renunciation, bodhichitta, and correct view of emptiness are included in this prayer. I can say very few people understand Liberating Prayer. It definitely needs verbal commentary by a Teacher. If we understand and contemplate its meaning – it is the best method to develop faith in Buddha and his teachings, which is our spiritual life and the root of all Dharma realizations.
– Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
June 4 is the Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day on which we celebrate Buddha’s first teaching in this world - the first Turning of the Wheel of Dharma. It is also the birthday of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, the Founder of NKT.
