Fall Festival 2024 ~ Day 2
Oct 27, 2024
The biggest Kadampa public talk yet held in the US was given in Thousand Oaks by Gen-la Jampa. In Montreal, Canada a talk by visiting Teacher Gen Chodor was an inspiration to many new people.
The Healing Power of Meditation event was the biggest Kadampa public talk ever in the United States. Over nine hundred people from Southern California attended the evening talk with Gen-la Kelsang Jampa, Deputy Spiritual Director of the NKT and Resident Teacher at IKRC Grand Canyon.
The event was hosted by Tushita Kadampa Buddhist Center in Thousand Oaks, California, but we are incredibly grateful to all the Resident Teachers and students in Southern California for helping the event be such a huge success! We are also deeply grateful to all the kind volunteers at Tushita Kadampa Buddhist Center for all their hard work. Over 19,000 publicity cards were distributed locally in the last fourteen months!
Kadampa Meditation Centre Montreal had the excellent opportunity to welcome the Resident Teacher of KMC Canada, Gen Kelsang Chodor, for a weekend course on self-confidence. On Friday night, Gen Chodor gave a public talk entitled Building Inner Strength: No Blame, No Shame. Many new people discovered the center through this talk and were inspired by the practical advice to become the resilient and happy person we want to be by developing inner peace.
An inspiring weekend course, Beat Perfectionism, followed the talk. Gen Chodor helped us to distinguish between ourselves and our delusions - being kind to ourselves while being wrathful with our delusions, the source of our sense of inadequacy. On Sunday morning, Gen Chodor gave an introduction to the practice of Tantra, the method to ripen our pure potential. The weekend ended with Offering to the Spiritual Guide puja, a beautiful way to express gratitude to Venerable Geshe-la for these priceless teachings. May Dharma flourish forevermore.
