The Complete Path to Enlightenment
Follow daily updates from the festival
There are many aspects of our International Kadampa Family that are demonstrated during the Festival. The festival is entirely run by those attending, with teams made up of people from many countries living and working harmoniously together. The teachings are being translated into a multitude of languages by the translators in the temple, and around the festival site Venerable Geshe-la’s books are available in many languages in the Tharpa shop - a testament to generations of dedicated work.
Through Venerable Geshe-la’s special insight and great compassion for people throughout the modern world, he has created a unique and extraordinary Kadampa family. His vision, his love and his teachings have touched the hearts of people throughout the world, and no where is this more visible than during the International Kadampa Festivals. As one participant said, seeing so many happy faces you cannot help but believe it is possible to become happier through the methods of Kadampa Buddhism and by joining in with the Kadampa Family.
The power of collective prayer is palpable each morning as thousands of practitioners join together led by Gen Kelsang Sangden and engage in the extensive Vajrayogini prayers, Quick Path to Great Bliss. The temple resounds with the purest of sounds and is filled with the collective peace of deeply faithful minds.
We have received many special, unique teachings during the Festival from Gen-la Dekyong that help us to understand our tradition, our International Kadampa Family and our incredible good fortune. Today, on Tara Day, Gen-la took time to help us understand the benefits of living within the Kadampa world and how we can do that in the midst of daily life.
The pre-eminent quality of the Kadampa world is that it is a pure world where people train in abandoning killing, stealing, lying, negative speech, and divisive speech. We are collectively trying to keep our Spiritual Guide’s instructions in our hearts, put them into practice, and take responsibility to share them with others. We try to maintain positive views and intentions and to live in a positive world.
Today we also received a moving commentary to the meaning of the precious statue of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso that is in every centre of our tradition as well as available as a personal statue or image. Every aspect reveals the spiritual path and helps us to rely on our Spiritual Guide.
By changing the way we see things we have great freedom to change what we see and experience.
