A Special Commentary to The Liberating Prayer & International Refuge Vow Ceremony
Follow daily updates from the festival
Today after an explanation of how our Spiritual Guide is in essence deathless and his mind always with us, we received an unexpected surprise of hearing Venerable Geshe-la’s voice resound in the temple giving us the blessing transmission of Liberating Prayer.
Everyone was deeply moved, touched right to the heart to receive this direct oral transmission from our Guru.
Gen-la Dekong had prepared us very well with such a rich commentary on every verse of the Liberating Prayer. Elucidating many deep levels of meaning for each line, sharing so many direct teachings from Geshe-la, and so many jewels from her own sincere contemplation, study and practice.
She helped us to understand how to turn our mind into faith, and how if we wish we can engage in the deepest practices of refuge and Guru yoga right in the context of the prayer.
"It’s really touching to hear Venerable Geshe-la’s voice again, I know he is here. It was very moving."
– SHARON
Finally she shared such valuable advice from Geshe-la on how to engage in retreat on the the objects of meditation contained within Liberating Prayer. Through following this special advice we will deepen our understanding of the good qualities of Buddha and draw closer to him, until finally we our selves become Buddha.
"I had this great sense of peace and happiness and felt this cloud of calm descending during the dedication prayers at the end of the blessing transmission."
– KONCHOG
During the meditation Gen Devi helped us to develop a feeling of being closer to Buddha.
Using our daily appearances to improve our spiritual experience – and not to increase our distractions.
An uncommon aspect of festival is how through the power of virtue and blessings we are much more able to maintain a happy mind all day long than in normal life. With a blessed inner and outer environment it is easy to stay peaceful, contented and loving in all our daily activities.
