23 NEW MONKS AND NUNS APPEAR
On Thursday July 28, the day before the Summer Festival begins, Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong, General Spiritual Director of NKT-IKBU, granted ordination to 23 new Sangha in the Kadampa Temple for World Peace at Manjushri KMC.
“The temple was filled with several hundred monks and nuns from all over the world and there was a palpable feeling of joy and rejoicing to be together again as an International ordained assembly.
“Just like an empowerment, during the ceremony 23 lay people dissolved into emptiness and 23 ordained sangha arose, wearing the 3 robes of ordination, with new names and holding the mind of renunciation.
“All the witnessing sangha also renewed their own ordination vows, making them strong and pure and renewing their intention to change their minds from attachment to renunciation until they attain the true peace of liberation.
“How wonderful! We deeply rejoice in our precious community of fortunate modern ordained Kadampa disciples and especially in those newly dedicating themselves in this way.”
